Jonathan’s Place Golf Classic Helps Victims of Child Abuse

Jonathan’s Place will host its 14th annual Golf Classic presented by Mohr Partners on Monday, November 4, 2013. The four person scramble will be held at Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas. In its 13 year history, the Golf Classic has raised more than $330,000 to help Jonathan’s Place provide a safe, loving home and specialized services for children who have been abused, abandoned or neglected. Registration and sponsorship information is available at jpkids.org/golf.

Held during National Adoption Month (November), the Golf Classic calls attention to the 10,768 children available for adoption in Texas right now. Jonathan’s Place provides adoption and foster care services for families across North Texas and is the only organization in Dallas County to offer a full continuum of care for all children who have been victims of abuse. Jonathan’s Place also provides an emergency shelter for children who have been removed from their homes and a residential treatment program for girls 10 to 17 years.

This year’s honorary chair is legendary sports reporter and personality Scott Murray. With three decades at NBC television as a multi Emmy Award-winning television sports anchor and broadcast journalist, including more than 20 years at NBC/DFW, Scott was named Sportscaster of the Year 17 times and is a recipient of the prestigious Silver Circle Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

“We are so thankful to Mohr Partners, Scott Murray, and our generous sponsors and players who support this great event,” said Allicia Frye, Chief Executive Officer of Jonathan’s Place. “The Golf Classic helps give us the resources to change lives and help some of the 5,107 children who were abused, abandoned or neglected in 2012 in Dallas County alone.”

Tournament contests will include closest to the pin, straightest drive, longest drive (men & women), longest putt, hole-in-one, beat the pro and take the pro’s drive. A BBQ lunch, music and hand-rolled cigars will also be featured throughout the day.
