Faith’s Journey to Motherhood and College
When Faith entered the Wesley Inn Maternity Program, she was a young mother seeking stability and support. At just 16 years old—soon to turn 17—she arrived with her daughter, who had just turned one.
She was referred to us by her school counselor at IDEA High School in Dallas, who knew she needed a safe, supportive home to continue her journey.
From the moment she arrived, Faith demonstrated a strong desire to learn, grow, and create a secure environment for her baby girl. She immediately engaged in all program expectations, completing her required medical appointments and actively participating in parenting and life-skills classes.
While in the program, she never lost sight of her education. She balanced the hard work of new motherhood with the daily life of a high school student, continuing to attend school consistently. She secured childcare for her daughter and even maintained a stable job at Raising Cane’s. Faith was determined not to miss out on her high school milestones, attending both her junior and senior prom before proudly graduating in May with her high school diploma.
Throughout her time with us, she worked closely with case management and the maternity team to prepare for both motherhood and independence. She took full advantage of financial literacy and skill-building opportunities, always remaining respectful, focused, and motivated—qualities that made her a joy to work with.
Upon graduation, Faith earned a scholarship to attend Texas Woman’s University (TWU), where she is currently majoring in nursing.
She was also accepted into family housing right on campus, where she and her daughter reside today. Faith is now attending college full-time and working part-time at Ross in Denton, continuing to support her family while pursuing her ambitious goals.
Her graduation from our program was a proud moment for our entire team. She successfully transitioned with safe housing, a reliable support network, and a clear plan for her education and career—a testament to her determination to provide the best possible future for her daughter.
