JP Part Of Super Bowl Week & NBA All-Star Weekend
Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware and Miami Heat G Dwyane Wade Choose to Help JP...
Garland, Texas (January 22, 2010 - Friday) - Jonathan’s Place is about to be part of two of the biggest stages in sports…Super Bowl XLIV and the 2010 NBA All-Star Game.

In conjunction with Pepsi and the NFL, Jonathan’s Place is one of three charities nationwide to be part of Pepsi’s “Refresh Everything” kickoff campaign the week leading up to Super Bowl XLIV. Pepsi is launching a 2010 campaign called “Pepsi Grants” in which consumers can submit a grant request for anything they’d like to help “refresh”. To kickoff the campaign, Pepsi is aligning with three current NFL players and the charity of their choice. Cowboys Pro Bowl linebacker DeMarcus Ware is one of the three NFL players, and he has chosen Jonathan’s Place as his charity.

All three players will participate in the production of a video about their charity, and the videos will be placed on the NFL’s website (www.nfl.com/pepsirefresh) the week of January 30 – February 4. Fans will have the opportunity to go to the NFL’s site, view the three videos and vote on which one they think is the most deserving. The charity that receives the most votes during that week will receive a $25,000 grant. The other two charities will each receive $10,000 grants.

Ware became involved with Jonathan’s Place about two years ago and has supported the children that live there on a regular basis. For the past two years, he and his wife, Taniqua, have made sure that the children living at Jonathan’s Place during the holidays have the best Christmas of their young lives. The Wares have gone above and beyond the call to support Jonathan’s Place and our little ones.

During the NBA All-Star Weekend February 12-14, Miami Heat All-Star guard Dwyane Wade will host his 3rd Annual All-Star Luncheon. Wade brings together friends from the sports, entertainment and corporate worlds to raise funds for the underprivileged children and families in the respective All-Star host city. Last year in Phoenix, Wade was joined at the luncheon by Muhammad Ali, American idol winner Jordin Sparks, New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. With the All-Star game in the Dallas area this year, proceeds from this year’s luncheon will benefit Jonathan’s Place and Texans’ Can!.

Wade, the Wade’s World Foundation and the Mike Modano Foundation worked together to schedule the All-Star Luncheon at The Tower Club in Thanksgiving Tower in Downtown Dallas on Saturday, February 13. Sponsorships and tickets to the luncheon are available through Franchise Sports Marketing in Dallas.
